The Department of Linguistics at Tel Aviv University and the linguistics section of the Language, Logic and Cognition Center at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem have pooled their resources in order to establish a joint program in linguistics, to consolidate the existing interactions between the two units, as well as to make strides towards becoming a major hub in linguistics.
The Structured Graduate Program in Linguistics is a five-years program, with three years of coursework followed by qualifying exams, and then two years’ dissertation. The core courses as well as many advanced seminars will be co-taught jointly by at least one member coming from each institution. In addition, the students will participate in joint reading groups, lab meetings, and colloquia, as well as mini-courses taught by invited international experts. All joined activities rely on internet technology specially designed for distance learning. In addition, there will be bi-weekly in-person meetings at one location.
